MORE THAN A GAME: WHY SPORT MATTERS
4 RANGER operates in a demanding,
fast-paced environment where readiness
remains the priority. However, there is an
opportunity to strengthen cohesion and
identity through greater engagement in
RIFLES sport, which can enhance both
individual resilience and team performance.
Even limited sporting opportunities can
bring soldiers together across ranks and
roles, building trust, communication, and
a shared sense of purpose. Well-managed
fixtures and training sessions can be
incorporated into quieter periods without
affecting operational output.
The unit can also support the wider RIFLES
sporting community by identifying talent and
encouraging participation at higher levels.
This benefits both the Regiment and the
individual through development opportunities
and increased confidence.
