7 RIFLES Shooting Team & Trophies
SHOOTING TEAM UPDATE
Following their 2025 Bisley triumph, 7
RIFLES held their annual Battalion Shooting
Competition to begin selections for the 2026
team. Maj Brash (G Coy), LCpl Ferguson (HQ
Coy), and LCpl Townsend (A Coy) filled the
podium.
7 RIFLES assembled a team for the 20 X
Operational Shooting Competition, where they
excelled, earning Top Reserve Team, while LCpl
Baille (B Coy) took Reserve Top Shot.
Prior to the Army Reserve Operational
Shooting Competition, three members travelled
to Little Rock, Arkansas, to represent the British
Army Reserve Operational Shooting Team at
the 35th Armed Forces Skill at Arms Meeting.
This team of eight is selected from the highest
scorers at the previous year’s AROSC. SSgt Kev
Catt (Team Captain), LCpl Pike (B Coy) and LCpl
Ferguson (HQ Coy) faced highly physical and
technically demanding day and night matches
over two weeks against elite international
firers from the US Army Reserve, US National
Guard, and teams from the Netherlands and
Ireland.
The British team secured an excellent
second place in the Rifle Team Championship.
Individually, 7 RIFLES members achieved
superb results: SSgt Catt placed 1st in both the
Night, and the Day Reflexive Fire, 2nd in the
Combat Rifle Individual Championship, and 5th
in Combined Rifle and Pistol. LCpl Pike secured
a creditable 11th in Individual Rifle, while LCpl
Ferguson placed 15th and took 1st place in
the Special Zero match. A superb effort and
a strong showing for 7 RIFLES and the Army
Reserve on the international stage.
The team deployed to AROSC, which

relocated to Lydd & Hythe for 2026. Unfamiliar
ranges, unpredictable weather conditions
and deep shingle levelled the playing field.
7 RIFLES adapted quickly, securing a win in
the Defence Assessment, with a strong team
average.
Individual excellence shone through during
the team matches. LCpl Levey showcased
exceptional speed and agility, allowing a
win in the Fire Team Combat Snap, engaging
nearly all the targets before the rest of the
team reached the firing point. The Fire Team

Attack and Building Defence matches were
highly competitive: LCpl Ferguson provided
crucial physical strength in the CASEVAC, while
Rfn Arif, Rfn Ogg, and Rfn Myatt help secure
wins in both with consistently strong scores.
7 RIFLES earned 2nd place team overall.
Highlighting their excellent marksmanship,
SSgt Catt, LCpl Levey, LCpl Pike and LCpl
Ferguson were among only 22 competitors
to achieve the prestigious Army Reserve 50
standard.
