BRISTOL - THE FIGHTING WESSEX WYVERN
Lt Col Andrew Trelawny and Mrs Heather Morgan in The
Rifles Office (Central), supported by Mrs Debbie Hards in the
Taunton Office, remain grateful for the support of 1 RIFLES,
A Coy 6 RIFLES in Hereford, Gloucester and Bristol, E Coy 8
RIFLES in Shrewsbury and Birmingham, the County and City
Colonels (Lt Col Guy Chambers in Shropshire, Col Marius
Coulon in Birmingham, Col Damian Griffin in Coventry,
Col Andy Taylor in Herefordshire and Brig James Daniel in
Bristol), the Light Infantry and Rifles Association branches
in Shropshire, Herefordshire and Bristol, the RGJ Association
branch in Birmingham, the RGBW Association branches in
Gloucestershire and Bristol, and the Buglers Association.
6 RIFLES hosted members of the Bristol
Branch of the Association and their guests
at a film night and curry supper to view the
Fighting Wessex Wyvern. This told the tale of
43 Wessex Division in Normandy, highlighting
the crucial battle for Hill 112. The Division
was composed of Territorial Battalions from
the South West so the soldiers of 3 Platoon
6 RIFLES appreciated as they watched
that they now walk in the footsteps of the
reservists featured in the film.

collection of Lance Corporal Josh Cottrell
are Brigadier Neville Holmes (RIFLES County
Colonel Somerset), Lieutenant Colonel
Olly Bevan (CO 6 RIFLES), Brigadier John
Hemsley (President Bristol Branch), Major Dan
Braycotton (OC A Coy 6 RIFLES) and Second
Lieutenant Alex Ravenhill (Bristol Platoon
Commander)
HEREFORD AND WORCESTER ACF BATTLEFIELD STUDY
In May, 28 Cadets and nine Adult Volunteers from Inkerman Company (RIFLES) of Hereford
and Worcester ACF took part in Exercise VENTURER CAMBRAI in Northern France, studying the
battlefields of the Somme, Cambrai and Vimy Ridge. Places visited included Beaumont Hamel,
Thiepval, Poziers, Delville Wood, Guillemont, Mametz Wood and the Lochnagar Crater, all of
which were fought over by soldiers of the antecedent regiments of The Rifles.
